Sat., Oct. 13, 2007: T.I. scheduled to attend and perform at the 2nd Annual BET Hip Hop Awards. Instead, Clifford "T.I." Harris, Jr. is arrested by ATF two blocks from the BET Awards taping facility. He is accused of gun possession. Bodyguard wears a wire to get T.I. on tape allegedly acknowledging giving him bodyguard $12,000 to illegally purchase nine guns for T.I. from "The Gun Store" in Doraville, GA and asking for the change. T.I.'s home is raided and the guns are recovered. |

Mon., Oct. 15, 2007 (2:30 - 4:30 pm) - T.I. enters federal court for the first time, acknowledges that he understands the charges against him and then pleads not guilty. Hearing is continued until Fri., Oct. 19. BlackPressRadio speaks briefly with Tameka "TINY" Cottle, T.I.'s long term girlfriend outside the courtroom who says "I hope that the fans will continue to support him." Black Press speaks briefly with DJ DRAMA a who says, "I've known TIP for seven years...and I'm proud of him. No matter what the music will go on." Police hold press conference after trial, layout their case, display guns allegedly took from T.I.'s house. Companion book in development based on trial events, interviews and coverage. |

Fri., Oct. 19, 2007: T.I.'s second hearing, which was a continuation of his initial hearing on October 15, 2007 turns into a bit of a circus when record label executives including Lyor Cohen of Warner Brothers, Michael Mauldin, father of Jermaine Dupri, and industry executive Kevin Liles. Grand Hustle VP Clay Evans agrees to an interview to show support of T.I. The execs offered $2.2 million in signature bonds plus T.I.'s house to allow T.I. to get out on bond. Judge Alan Baverton said he was "concerned about that kind of dichotomy" regarding the contrast of T.I.'s willingness to risk his career to purchase of illegal weapons. |
