Historical Black Press Foundation files opposition
to the illegal trademark filing for Who's
Who in Black Washington, DC, another publication
with our same name.
In early 2006 we made it known that we were publishing
the book, Who's Who in Black Washington, DC. In April
2006 we
started commerce on the project. In May 2006
we sent
out a series of press releases about the Who's
Who in
Black Washington, DC directory. Also in May
2006,
we made hundreds of people aware of the publishing
of
this directory at the Book Expo American in Washington,
DC. We will publish this book this year.
We filed opposition with the United
States Trademark and
Patent Office on March 2, 2007. We were told by the Trade-
mark office that the application
has "holes" and a letter was
sent out so the application is
on hold anyway. We plan to be
aggressive in protecting our
intellectual property and
publication. We have alerted
the attorney for the applicant
and plan to move forward
with publishing our directory.
To advertise or sponsor the directory, please send an
email [email protected].
Please stay tuned for additional information on our
legal ownership of the Who's Who in Black
Washington, DC book.
