Lunch with a Purpose

We have invited many dignitaries to join us on Thursday, March 15, 2007 on Capitol Hill as we meet with members of Congress about our desire to have a national Proclamation for the 180th Anniversary of the Black Press, the need to address America's Black advertising crisis and make March 12-16, 2007 Black Press Week in the District of Columbia. We are bringing in the only surviving son of the late Gordon Parks, who co-founded Essence magazine and was the nation's first Black photographer.

As part of our yearlong celebration, we will also asking that the United States Post Office and the White House to honor Black publishers with a postage stamp. We're presenting three candidates: John H. Johnson (founder of Ebony, 1942), Gordon Parks (co-founder of Essence, 1970) and Sameul Cornish (founder of Freedom's Journal, 1827). Call 202-903-6168 for details.

The luncheon is $30 for students. $50 per person regular price. Corporate tables are $500 and $1,000. REGISTER NOW
