Exclusive: NABOB's Jim Winston discusses State of Black Radio

Haysbert, who plays the President of the United States on the popular series, "24," burst into tears while accepting the National Association of Black-Owned Broadcasters Entertainer of the Year Award on March 23, 2007 at Marriott's Wardman Park Hotel, Washington, DC.
While thanking his manager and remembering his mother, Haysbert delivered a moving and sincere moment of gratitude and brought home the importance of the organization's award ceremony. The annual event honors those who have contributed to the black-owned broadcasting and communications industries.

The evening was a star-studded extravaganza filled with the industry's most important people of color. The coveted gift bag included a swiss army knife, compilation CDs, a cell phone holder and the complete DVD collection of the 1st season of "24."
Veteran performer Natalie Cole belted out song-after-song and delighted the audience with her dazzling appearance and crystal clear voice. Veteran gospel group The Mighty Clouds Of Joy received the NABOB Pioneer in Music Award while influential jazz and pop vocalist Little Jimmy Scott was awarded the NABOB Pioneer in Music Award. Actress Pam Grier received the NABOB Pioneer in Entertainment Award.
