(BlackPressMagazine.com) - Like many new authors, Stef Williams was looking for a good way to market her new book, Joy Happened. Knowing that her book had mass appeal with women and men, Williams decided to try a non-traditional way to get the word out about her literary creation.

When BlackPodcasts.com decided to celebrate its 1 millionth download anniversary by giving away gift bags to media professionals at a recent award show, Williams' turned the event into a golden opportunity. Copies of Joy Happened were made available at the award show and several of the media professionals indicated that they would read the book on the plane or hotel room. If the journalists like the book, it could translate into national media attention.

"I've always wanted to write as far back as middle school. My family and fiends would always ask me to write a poem. With the encouragement from friends and family I started writing Joy Happened," said Williams, who is making an entire chapter of the book available to BlackPodcasts.com readers for a limited time.

"It wasn't just a sit down and write. It was in the middle of raising two kids. After the kids went to bed when I had some free time, I would write the book. It took me about three years," she said.

So what is Joy Happened?

"It's a nontraditional love story. It's not a fairly tale, or a happily-ever after story. It's a real-life relationship story. Joy is the main character and she must choose between two men. I based the story off the lives of several of my friends and some of the emotions that are experienced in the book did happen to me and other people. I twisted it around so that no one could say, oh that's me," said Williams.

"Street lit is hot and is selling, but my book promises good sex. But it's not just good sex, it's passion," said Williams. "That's what I think comes out of Joy Happened. It's passion."

Williams is based in Washington, DC and is planning to take her book on the road to help promote the positive messages that the book has to offer. To read the Bonus Excerpt, click the "pdf" logo above.
