America's newest sweetheart: Saaphyri wins Charm School, wows at BET AwardsSaaphyri wins Charm School

(BlackPressMagazine.com) - Days before the country witnessed her stunning victory on VH1's hit reality TV show Charm School, Black Press Magazine caught up with Saaphyri Windsor on several occasions in Los Angeles, CA and witnessed the rebirth of her career.

"I admit, I really wasn't feeling Charm School before I interviewed these women for the podcasts on BlackPressRadio.com," said DC Livers, managing editor for the Historical Black Press Foundation. "But, after talking with them on the phone, meeting them in person, seeing them handle themselves with the media and at parties, I have to say I'm impressed, particularly with Saaphyri and Buckeey."

Saaphyri swam through Media Day at the BET Awards like an Olympic swimmer, conducting interviews with as many as 50 radio stations and never breaking a sweat. Managed by publicist Toi Troutman, Saaphyri was dressed in a white shirt made up of thin, barely there blue lines with built-in corset, painted on blue jeans, gold boots just above her knee, Black hair and flawless makeup. She breezed through questions with the press with humor, honesty and gave the impression of someone who is generally grateful.

"Charm School really changed my life," she told Black Press Magazine's DC Livers. "I'm really excited to see what happens next."

Saaphyri hinted that fans will likely see her on television sooner rather than later saying, "I cannot legally talk about it yet, but I think you'll be seeing Saaphyri again real soon."

Rumors that the girls can't get along were obviously proved wrong as Saaphyri and Asian American beauty Leiline tag teamed journalists from print to radio to broadcast TV. Leiline even helped Saaphyri plug her new product line called, "Lip Chapp" during a session with the press on June 25.

Later that evening, the girls thrilled fans, celebrities and some of L.A.'s finest with a white hot party at Privilege, a hotspot on Sunset and Crescent Hills. The girls, who were joined by Saaphyri's sister, huddled in a corner and laughed and joked and truly enjoyed each other. Becky a.k.a. Buckwild was also in constant communication with Saaphyri and was spotted repeatedly laughing and joking with her. She looked amazing with smokey eye shadow, appropriate clothing and freshly done hair. They made time to take photos with well wishers and made sure that everyone had a good time. Although the party was not officially presented by VH1, it was a nice and expected surprise to see the girls bonding from their shared experience.

"You don't really see that," said DC Livers. "I saw Lil Jon and other celebrities who were roped off from the public but the Charm School girls really mixed and mingled and were truly accessible."

However, not all was good. When Schatar a.k.a. Hottie join the two on the BET Awards media stage earlier that afternoon, it was clear that Saaphyri wasn't feeling it opting instead to say, "Oh no, her" and asking what's she doing here? Larissa also attended wearing a flattering pink dress but didn't appear to be a part of the group choosing instead to hang close with her mother and other members of her circle.

Black Press Magazine caught up with Hottie after the media day festivities and conducted an interview with her. She wasn't really apart of the group, what she's up to next and why she feels the other girls gave her a bum rap. Stay tuned to BlackPressRadio.com for the podcasts in the coming days.
