(BlackPressMagazine.com) - Think 'Blind Date' meets 'Cheaters' only with Black people.

That's one way to describe BET's slam dunk new reality dating show, "Hell Date." A quick visit to their website shows that "Hell Date" little more than an on-air product placement to sell BET's new dating services, but the show is still very funny and worth a look.

"Hell Date is the type of show you'd expect from a network that employs Reggie Hudlin," said DC Livers, managing editor for Black Press Magazine, a trade publication that covers Black media. "It's trendy but stylish, funny without being exploiting and as real as most bad dates get."

Charm School star Thela Brown a.k.a. "RAIN," who was kicked out during the early episodes after the obstacle course because she couldn't climb up the hill because of her "torn Achilles Heel" is one of the daters on the show. (Cue Jason's "Halloween" music).

After appearing on Flavor of Love, Thela quit her job as a legal secretary and moved from Seattle to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. She is best known for her screaming tirade against "I Love New York" star Tiffany Pollard in the van, a scene which shocked her when she eventually saw it on TV. After that wake-up call Rain knows she needs to learn to control her anger and had hoped that Charm School will make that come true, according to Pop Tower.

During the episode that Black Press Magazine screened an unsuspecting woman gets confronted by her date's ex, Sasha. Seems likely, right? Well, Sasha is a man.

Hell Date airs weeknights on BET at 7:30 p.m. EST.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars*

*We knocked off a half of a point for the offensive Black female dwarf who dones a devil costume and reveals that they person has been on helldate. That's
just plain mean.
